The Family Initiative, Inc. (TFI) is pleased to share the appointment of Debora Howser as the Senior Vice President of Residential Services for Pathway Family Services. This vital leadership role reflects TFI’s ongoing dedication to delivering high-quality residential programs that support children and families within the Topeka community. 

Howser holds a Master of Education and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Kansas State University. With more than 30 years of experience in special education and leadership roles—including serving as Director of Special Services at the Kansas State School for the Blind, Executive Director of Special Services at Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 and Director of Special Services at Silver Lake USD 372—Howser brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of building positive relationships and implementing effective programs. 

“We are thrilled to welcome Debora to the Pathway Family Services team,” said Rachelle Roosevelt, TFI Chief Programs Officer. “Her extensive background in special services and leadership will be instrumental in advancing our mission to serve children and families with compassion, professionalism and excellence.” 

When asked about her vision for the future, Howser emphasized the importance of relationships: “I believe that positive relationships are fundamental for building a productive work environment, fostering community engagement and involving families in meaningful ways.” 

In her role as Senior Vice President of Residential Services, Howser will oversee the operations of the agency’s Residential Programs, setting strategic goals and policies, cultivating partnerships with public and private organizations, promoting teamwork and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment for residents.
