The Independence Fire/EMS Department, under the leadership of Fire Chief Shawn Wallis, demonstrated their commitment to their community in a remarkable way as they recently donated hundreds of gifts and $700 in Walmart gift cards to children in foster care in Montgomery County.

This act of kindness will bring happiness to the lives of the children served by TFI Family Services (TFI), many of whom face day-to-day hardships that few could imagine, especially during the holidays.

“Acts of kindness like these mean so much more than some may realize,” said Shaileen Owens, Vice President of Permanency. “All children deserve to feel the joy of the holiday season, and we are so thankful to the Independence Fire and EMS department for helping make that happen for the kids in their community.”
