Topeka, KS (March 9, 2026) – The Family Initiative, Inc. (TFI) is proud to announce Angela Romero Jr has joined the TFI team as the new Fund Development Officer. Romero brings more than a decade of professional fundraising experience to the child and family well-being agency.
Romero earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Washburn University and later completed his Juris Doctorate from Washburn School of Law.
In his new role at TFI, Romero will oversee fundraising efforts for the TFI Kids Fund, which supports youth in foster care. This fund supports items government waivers do not cover, like prom dresses, sports equipment, braces and much more.
“I am honored to step into this role. I am passionate about connecting donor passions to TFI’s work of strengthening families,” said Romero. “This opportunity allows me to continue working in Topeka but also broaden our reach and impact.”
Romero, an esteemed member of the Topeka community, serves on numerous community boards, including Topeka Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Washburn University Board of Regents and the Kansas Association for Youth Alumni Network. Additionally, he is a former graduate of Leadership Kansas.
“We are thrilled to welcome Angel to the TFI family. His leadership, positivity and experience will allow him to do wonderful things as he advocates for the children we serve,” said Melissa Briggs, Chief Administrative Officer.
